Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I experienced behind its walls was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .
The State of Affairs: Grimy and Abandoned
From the moment I walked in , it was evident that cleanliness was not a priority at this venue. The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of uncleaned spills and neglected washrooms polluted the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of ammonia , old age and illness . The counter , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The lavatory was in even more deplorable shape — backed up, with a snapped lever and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was feces.
